“WITNESS!”

So here we are..the end of Joshua. Though I already knew how the story ended, I didn’t know how this last post would go. I figured He would have me write about remembering GOD & continuing in obedience after He fulfills the promise, but as I read Chapter 22, one word jumped out at me: Witness. Not satisfied I kept reading..chapter 23, 24..and there it was again, WITNESS!

The significance of this is, some time last year Cee came to me saying during her prayer time, GOD told her we were going to have a ministry but she didn’t know the name for it [look at GOD’s timing, I mentioned this the other day & here I am talking about it now]. As she continued going into detail that same word jumped out at me: WITNESS; so I suggested “to just call it Witness”. We wrote it down and have been praying over it and taking it to GOD ever since.

“Why Witness??” When I think about witnessing, it breaks down into three parts:

1.) living in obedience to His will so that our life, speech, and actions are evidence of Him, His love, and His transformation He can do in our lives

  1. the act of Visually seeing an event or action

  2. After coming into knowledge by visually seeing and experiencing His love, telling others about it

At the core, next to believing and obeying GOD, witnessing is what being a follower of Christ is all about (not to be confused with Jehovah’s Witness, but if you grillin’ out I might knock on your door 😂). It makes me think of the woman at the well. From one conversation she became both a visual witness of Christ, then provided evidence to testify or witness to others about Him (come see a Man..John 4:29)

The picture for this post was the first time we got to be witnesses of GOD making a promise, then seeing “come to pass” (go back and read my post “Finally” for that lesson). Granted He restored our marriage, but the house was something outside of us, that involved people who didn’t personally know us, that GOD caused them to move and things to come into place. By no means are all of GOD’s promises about receiving physical gifts; it’s more about Him speaking and His Word coming to pass.

“As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.” - Isaiah 55:10-11
