As we’re rounding out the month, and the end of this book, the Word that’s been literally jumping out recently is: promise fulfilled! Over the weekend I heard one sermon literally named “The Promise Fulfilled”, at my church we’re starting a study on uncommon faith as we examine the story of Joshua, and when I opened up my Bible app to read my chapter from Joshua today it was also titled “The Promise Fulfilled”. With all these confirmations, that should be enough to make anyone wanna get up and get active, right?? Well… I’ve been walking with GOD for “a few days now”, so of course I know sometimes there’s more to the story. I’m always full of questions (while I’m walking)..so today’s question? What does it look like to claim the promise once if it’s been fulfilled??
I likened it to if you win a prize from a contest..you were just chosen and you won..got it, cool! But what’s the equivalent of going down to the location to claim my prize in the spirit?! That [question] really bothered me yesterday, and I really expected an answer! I got one..between reading Chapter 21 and going to Men’s Small Group bible study. Simple answer: it looks like the continual walk in obedience each day leads to the promise being fulfilled! Like most, when I expect a promise to be fulfilled that means everything comes in at once (or in a lump sum). But if I closely examine the story of Joshua, the promise was fulfilled through an accumulation of events; a series of small victories: stepping out on faith and believing GOD, marching around the city, continuing to walk in obedience. It also came at the END of the journey!
So as we continue walking into and receive the promises of GOD, let’s focus on the small tasks in front of us, excel at those (in His eyes), and through that we’ll see His true Fulfillment!
