fi·nal·ly

adverb

1. after a long time, typically involving difficulty or delay.

Joshua 14 tells us about how Caleb makes a request for Joshua to honor the promise made between GOD and Moses that he and his people would get a specific part of the land and a reward for obeying and believing GOD when they were sent to spy out the land. He says it’s been 45 YEARS since the promise was made!

A reoccurring word(s) I’ve heard more and more recently has been: Put GOD in remembrance & [finally] it came to pass.

Now with the first about reminding GOD, I kinda struggled with. Why would I have to remind GOD about something He told me would happen?? Tbh I’m still working on fully embracing it, but I have come to understand that the reminding is mostly for us. “God is not human, that he should lie, not a human being, that he should change his mind.” That’s Numbers 23:19 [these are the words Balaam - prophet for hire spoke to Balak! We just talked about these two yesterday, this is how intentional the Holy Spirit is when He speaks to us!🙌🏾] In other words the reminder is to is let us know if GOD said it, we’re gonna see it, as long as we remain obedient and remain firm in our faith in Him & His Word.

Speaking of obedience, it says that Joshua blessed him and gave the inheritance to Caleb “because he followed the Lord, GOD of Israel, completely”. Caleb was able to request (really it sounded like he demanded it, “so now, give me this hill country about which the Lord spoke that day..”) because he knew he had been faithful with everything GOD said. So what’s the key to unlocking the promise(s) of GOD?? Simple: complete obedience!
