“Going All the Way”

Not talking about the Jeffrey Osborne song (though that’s my joint lol), I was recently sitting in conversation with my wife about a decision we could possibly be facing soon. Every decision we make we take before the Lord, and we’re very upfront about this with people we do business with. The other party involved was told about this as well, to which they sent a response message being facetious and sarcastic, almost mocking our stance. We don’t take those things lightly, especially @lovecierranicole , and she remarks to me, “you know for the price of THIS, we could easily go with something new & probably for less and not have to worry about anything [or deal with the person]. But if this is what God wants then none of that matters, right?”
I agreed, and as I was responding back it made me think of the story of Lot and how he was saved from the distraction of Sodom. As he and his family were escaping, the angel of the Lord tells them he’s taking them to a specific location that’s a distance away (in the hills). As they’re running away, Lot negotiates to settle for a small city that’s still in the same direction as, but a shorter distance and closer to where he was just rescued from. Yeah, he gets saved but that’s pretty much the last you hear of him.
I sometimes sit back and think, I wonder what was waiting for Lot at the intended location? Had he kept going, would his life have turned out any different? My goal is to never sell myself short, to settle for what’s easy or right in front of me, especially if I know God’s given me detailed instructions and/or vision. Lot had a history of going for what LOOKED like the best and easiest choice, and would benefit him the most at the moment, and this thinking always got him into situations where he needed to be rescued. How many of us can look back on our lives and see similar actions in ourselves?
Read Genesis 19 for the full story.
